Early Reports on the Sullivan Repeater are FANTASTIC!

At the time of this writing, it’s been almost a week since the Sullivan repeater (N0NOE South) was turned up and put on the air.  Initial reports of its useful range have been nothing short of spectacular!

The first ranging contact I became aware of was accomplished by Chris Williams (KE0LKV) on the Friday morning after the repeater was installed.  He was on his way home from work on Interstate 44 near Eureka / Allenton and keyed up the repeater and held several QSOs on his drive home.  Chris as using a Connect Systems CS800D in his vehicle.  A quick check shows this to be a range of about 30 miles or so.  This early example gave us great hope!

Today, I had a QSO with Jim Cleveland (KD0HXG) as he stood on his back deck in Linn, MO.  He was using an AnyTone D868 handheld and was in solid and of course quite clear.  He had QSOs with me, Allan Sieker (AD0FT) and several folks out west who monitor the BYRG talkgroup.  A quick analysis shows that the distance was about 45 miles “as the crow flies” from the repeater.  This on an HT running about 7 watts.

Needless to say, we are VERY pleased so far with the performance of the repeater!

If you have feedback to report, either positive or negative, we are interested in hearing it!  Feel free to send us contact reports or comments on the “Contact Us” page of this site.  And please enjoy the repeater as much as you can!
